Two groups of people I know.....

1) relatives who bought Down South years ago as retirement homes. After retirement, they left New York.

2) schoolmates who originally from New York, but took advantage of relocation opportinities (job offers, properties) and did very well for themselves.

They weren't much bragging as much as having vision for their retirement and/or taking advantage of offers presented to them.

I am so glad I moved out of NY. The people here are best. I live in paradise . The bagels are the best and the pizza has a lovely golden cheese on it. Just the other day as I was leaving my new found best ever coffee shop a child in a carriage reached his arm out to hold the door open for me and a body speaking her first words said have a nice day.

At least you have NYers who( maybe) are actually from NYC. We get the New Jerseyans and ones who have never even been that close. They have the NY Yankees caps( with the Lakers jerseys and Dallas Cowboys jackets, ?) the bling and the attitude like somehow that will buy them respect and admiration. It just says dork. I get that Jersey has no baseball or basketball team so they have to pick whats closest or who's currently best.. At least Jersey has two football teams even if they share a stadium. You do see more Giants jackets now.
I guess if you have an aunt that lived in North Jersey at one time that makes you a New Yorker. But at least visit the city once so you can at least say you've been there.
As for the riffraff comment, yeah our local transplanted lowlifes have left NYC becasue they just couldn't survive there anymore than I could.

LOL that's so true. the natives of those other states don't care that we're
from ny really. it's best to keep ny out your mouth when you are out of
town, unless someone asks.

nothing will make you look more stupid than every other 5 words coming
out your mouth is ny this, ny that. lol don't even do that to yourself. there
are big egos everywhere and you might just meet your match in some
small town out there.

Why move someplace if you're just going to badmouth it? And why move away then try to turn the place you move to into where you came from? When I leave NYC, I'm doing it to leave NYC, and won't attempt to bring it with me. If you want to be in NYC, you should be staying in NYC.

NY to Flariduh transplants can be summed up a few ways:

1. I'm down from Manhattan = low life from Queens
2. Big car in Flariduh means they never had a car in NY and saved their money by living in their parents basement!
3. Anyone under 50, relocating to Flariduh means they are done scamming everyone up north and were forced out of the state
4. "Rockin" a Yankee cap and not being named Jeter won't get you any points. BTW when do you ever see real Yankees players wearing "work uniforms" in their free time?
5. Staten/ Strong Island = mob wannabe
6. Just a heads up, Long Island DOESN'T = The Hamptons in translation

Nobody cares how you did it "up north" or how much money you made(garbage men make 100k, teachers/cops/firefighters all make over 100k etc)

Remember "Florida is a sunny place for shady people!"
