I don't know how they'll keep track of those in the process of looking but prior to looking they prepare the recipients by demanding they dress in a professional manner for their 9-5 classes, putting phones on vibrate, attending 120 hours of classes, and testing. They don't allow hanging out in front of the building. Any hours less than the required 120 hours and they are cut off. Dressing like a hoochie mama you are cut off.
They assist those who need resumes or they can get them done somewhere else. If they need clothing, they will also assist.
I tell ya, my building has been really quiet lately.
Um, what if they don't have "professional" clothing, then what?
Is this what you think 1.8 million NYers are receiving because they're "lazy"?
Not all are. But many are making no effort to rise up in the first place. Walk into a convienece store and hang around for the dudes that try to by Old English 40 ounces with the EBT card.
A card that is meant for food. Olde English is not food.
It's good that rules and regulations are going to be enforced. (Someone somewhere in the city bureaucracy apparently woke up and realized that--surprise!--if you don't enforce the law, you haven't got a law). Hopefully, there won't be loopholes that welfare cheats can slip through.
I wait patiently to see where else this exciting new revelation could lead...Imagine, for instance, if the city (or state) began enforcing the traffic law that says you're not supposed to be driving while holding a cell phone.

There are TWO types of EBT cards - one for CASH and one for FOOD.
Also, how close up are you on the person to know what their card is when it looks like a typical debit card?
You also know that many of those men have felonies and can't get a job.

Aww poor babies. They committed crimes now want to sap us of money to get their drink on? Riiiight. There wasn't entitlement programs when people came off the boat in NYC, they lived through slums and the depression. Guess what, they did what they had to do. We as a country have it FAR too easy. If you have a TV and Cable along with a Cell phone and a Xbox, you ARENT STRUGGLING. Sell everything, live in a tiny crappy apartment and strive each day to provide something this country wants. Don't give a laundry list of excuses why life sucks. Go make it better and learn to buck up!

Close enough, believe me. Seen many related things. The store i go to is the size of a habitrail. They should not commit crimes then if they want to avoid felonies. The hand that does that is their own.
i just don't like feeling like a loser for spending cash when I'm in the same
line behind 20 people on food stamps. they should have their own line, plus
stores usually don't have enough personnel in hoods where everyone is
on assistance, because they don't make enough money to hire more people.
