Hello from the South! We are all so sorry to see all the devastation up there. Our thoughts are with you all. I was reading this forum before the storm hit and was a little surprised that some were so sure it wouldn't do much damage. I wish the weather services didn't focus so much on the category number. A "cat 1" gives people the feeling it's not a big deal.

Anyway, I just saw a story locally that help is on the way. Our power crews are on the way up there as well as several other states to help get everyone back online. Stay safe!

There are many non working traffic lights in Manhattan.

Taxi cab drivers are doing good business in Manhattan since there is no other public transportation at the moment.

Hurricane Sandy: After Landfall - In Focus - The Atlantic

I'm thankful that I'm on dry land. If anyone needs someone to watch their pets for a few days let me know. I'm willing to take a few in.
This was my favorite, reminds me of "Singing in the Rain". I like the spirit of this one but I do wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

Instead of replying to the resident young self-involved troll, let's re-focus on the topic at hand.

I found this article with more details about the young couple that was killed in Brooklyn by the falling tree. Apparently they were killed last night and not found til this morning. So sad.

Photos of destruction in Queens by neighborhood -- mostly downed trees, until you get to the block of houses in Breezy Point that are completely burned to the ground.
