No, but I live down the block from them. Where are the cops? On flood night, cops were everywhere, now they are gone. Throngs of young men who curse and fight are flooding into the abandoned streets of Chinatown and the Lower East Side at night time.

Somebody needs to hand out leaflets to let these folks where they can find food so they don't have to do this. They are only doing this cuz they prolly have no access to info and don't know help is only blocks away!
If this is true, things will quickly fall apart. I am going to stay down there tonight, but if things don't turn around, I am going to have to make arrangements to get out of there. Things are turning ugly fast:

That's how it was after Hurricane Andrew. Everything pretty normal north of downtown Miami. Everything south was a scene of near or total devastation.
In any event - with all the election season talk of a bazillion dollars to fix this that or the other thing damaged in the storm - why has no one come up with the idea of putting in a lot of port-a-potties on the streets of south Manhattan so people can go to the bathroom without lugging gallons of water up to their apartments so their toilets can flush? Or will people in Manhattan only see port-a-potties for people running the marathon on Sunday? Robyn

Good point. Is this poster actually inside these projects seeing the poop or other said conditions? If so, kindly post pictures since it seems you have internet access.

If you read the thread, yes, the poster was inside the projects.
And two, if you have any clue, you DONT walk around taking photos in the projects when things are getting rough! Dangerous people DONT like their pictures taken.

Agree. when I saw that pic by John Villegras of the people raiding the dumpster I hope he had the sense to notify official rather than just use it to exploit the issue in the media.
