I love Forest Hill Gardens, but I've always been kinda scared to explore it on foot.
Why?
It's a beautiful area to leisurely walk around. It has some great features - proximity to transportation, restaurants, shops, a beautiful park (Forest Park), etc.

I thought pic #62 is kind creepy like insane asylum with dark torture chambers in the basement.
And pic #34 with the strange looking tree and shadowy wall have a feel of a haunted house too.

For the most part the other houses are beautiful and old in an elegant way. Thanks for all the
wonderful pics Nexis4Jersey. But I wonder if the Forest Hill Gardens people were freaking out
when you were in their neighborhood, because they might think of you as a burglar scouting
their houses and neighborhood.
FHG has had it's fair share of burglaries and auto theft related crimes. They do have a private security patrol go around the neighborhood regularly, and I have been followed on a few occasions late at night coming home from work...
You don't have to own a house here to enjoy Forest Hills Gardens. When I want to take a slightly longer route home, I cut through this neighborhood to my apartment. I do this mostly in the spring and summer when there is light out and I can see the flowers and trees. It's really amazing how a few blocks in, all the people and traffic noise are completely gone and all you hear are the birds chirping. It's totally stress relieving, a good way to unwind after a day at work.

Agreed. My husband and I make it a point to go to some of the great restaurants on Metropolitan Ave (ie, Danny Browns) and one of the best parts is the walk from Queens Blvd to Metropolitan!

Worried if the residents would call the cops and throw me out if I started taking photos there.
However, I worked on a house there 2 years ago during that blizzard, and I often walk through 71/Continental Avenue.
Those pictures are amazing. I love Forest Hills Gardens. If I had the money for it, I'd probably buy a family house there. Honestly speaking, I'd rather live there than in any part of Manhattan. It's the best of both worlds, you have the space and tranquility, while still being in NYC, and half an hour away from midtown.
Very nice photos. The last time forest hill made the news was about a Guy that had scammed internet users of their hard earned money. Also wasn't Madoff from Forest hills I guess that how they spend the money on making monster mc mansions.
