I would encourage all Americans to refuse to pay the fine associated with this monstrous legislation.

The problem is that if people don't sign up for health care and remain uninsured, they go to the ER anyway and when they do, it ends up raising hospital costs by lowering the revenue hospitals need, and eventally premiums for everybody else. (Or, of course, they don't go the ER at all and die.) That sort of thing is one reason so many hospitals around NYC have already closed. High costs due to too many uninsured patients.

Well if they're not even citizens they shouldn't be receiving health care anyway, in any form.

The problem now is that the lower risk population will opt out and pay the fine. This population is very much needed for risk sharing, the fortunate need to share with the unfortunate.

yeah it's just unfortunate that the freeloaders from other countries that receive healthcare that they never pay for have none.

How do people do "just fine" without medical insurance?? Huh??

You THINK you are healthy, but just like that, something can happen to you regardless of your so-called healthy lifestyle and it sure is great to have health insurance. I recently discovered that I have a neurological issue that is still being diagnosed. I've had to undergo no fewer than five MRIs and if I didn't have health insurance, I shudder to think of the cost.
