Murders are way up so far this year in Manhattan, The Post has learned.

Sixteen people were killed around the borough between the first of the year and Sunday. Over the same period last year, the figure was 11. That’s an increase of about 45 percent.

Shootings in the borough have also soared.

There have been 50 “shooting incidents’’ since Jan. 1, compared with 31 in the same time period in 2014 — an increase of about 38 percent. Some of these “incidents’’ involved more than one victim.

The number of shooting victims nearly doubled, from 33 to 61.

“City Hall better wake up soon,” a police source said. “When murders and shootings go up in Manhattan, everyone is affected,’’ he said, pointing out that crime impacts business, tourism and the city’s economy as a whole.

He said there are a variety of reasons, from the plummeting number of “stop-and-frisks’’ to the fact that the city needs more officers. “The cops’ hands are tied,’’ he said.

Eh, a cry about crime in Manhattan, and Manhattan only, is supposed to get me up on my feet?

16..in a borough of 1.64 mill is spectacularly safe. A change of 5 is hardly significant, as I would assume few consecutive years had exactly like quantities.

That is such an insanely low number for the entire borough it's ridiculous... For years pretty much up until the mid 90s, the upper Manhattan precincts alone used to record around 500 homicides annually. And now, we're almost midway through the year, and 16 homicides within 22 precincts total sends shivers down peoples spines. Man, when did we become such punks... Not saying that a 45% increase isn't cause for concern, but when we're dealing with historically low levels, percentage increases are bound to fluctuate... Again, not defending DeBlasio but the Post in this case clearly has an agenda...

Wait wait wait....what happened to black lives matter? That's five extra people, likely majority black, that have been killed just over last years stats. So we are just going to say that's okay? We had city / nationwide protests bc a career criminal, eric garner, died after fighting an arrest. But now these extra five people don't matter?

According to a non-precedential federal court order issued by a judge that an appeals court ruled showed bias in how she steered that case to her courtroom? The ruling isn't on firm grounds at all and doesn't bind future administrations from changing course. By the any, what ever happened to the attempt by the unions to intervene in that case? Oh, and I'm a minority if that matters.

Al Sharpton does not get upset over black on black violence.

All the hood neighborhoods in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens will be riddled with bullets this summer. It's gonna be a violent, long, hot, summer season
