its.nelle - what are you going to do about your current lease? is your landlord going to let you break it or will you have to find a subletter?

I have no idea. I was going to renew but I got the approval so now I'm freaking out bc it's up in a few days and I haven't told them I'm going to move yet because I dont know when these developers are going to call. Going to call tomorrow and see what they say about maybe holding on to it for another month but I'm not sure they can even do that.

I was told if I renew then break I would have to pay the rent until they found someone else to rent the apt... No way I can do that.

I am stilling waiting HPD approval.

Just got Ineligible Letter for 555Ten, because they don't offer units to 60% AMI income.

I might be moving too in May. I'm just too nervous to talk about it.

@ItsNell, the building I currently live in sent me a lease renewal; I have not signed. I told them I might be moving soon, but not sure what day. They said OK whenever you move just sign a release form.

First you need to know if they can throw you out if you don't sign a lease...(HPD would know)
Second, If they can't throw you out...I wouldn't not sign a lease.

Third, if you do sign a lease because you don't know whether BG will call you in a month, 2 months or even 3 months..*shrugs. You just won a lottery and you're not going to pass up Copper because of a lease renewal.

I had plenty of apartments and left when I found something better...Whether it was during my lease or after and Landlords didn't care...AS LONG as I was paying rent for the time I was there...

But for your sake of clarity
I have an uncle who is a retired federal worker. He worked for the Federal Housing and Urban Development. He can call you or you can call him, or I could relate the message to him and give you his answer on what you should do about lease renewals and time frames. You could inbox me your concern if you need help with it.

I wish everyone well, and hope BG calls soon (Which I believe they will in a few days) *Fingers crossed before May! Keep the positive attitude and the gratitude for everything and anything.

Thanks for the info! I hope you do move!

So I called them they said it’ll be a while before anyone even notices I haven’t renewed. She said when I sign my new lease to just send bAck the form saying I’m going to vacate the premises and I should be fine.

Soooo I’m hoping I can sign in the next 2 weeks....

Wait. But don't actually sign a new lease for a full term. I guess she was saying just return the lease with a note saying that you are moving, but don't actually SIGN it.

Also, I sent you a private message.
