I actually live very close to the end of the M60 bus line, just walk a couple blocks and I'm there. But I fly JetBlue, and their service out of LGA is extremely limited...so it's worth the inconvenience. I would recommend any visitor to fly into LGA as I think it's better/more convenient, but it's rare that I do these days...usually only when I fly Delta.

Even Newark is convenient, as you mentioned. You can't go wrong with any of the 3, again how convenient each one is depends on your destination. But the OP should definitely look up the view you get flying into LGA...it's worth it for that alone.

I like LGA too but with the airport construction it is a mess. I was on the M60, I was at the airport just not my bus stop an hour before I was left off. So plan good extra time if you take the M60 to LGA for a flight.

JFK. LGA is a nightmare. JFK you get the Airtrain to Jamaica and get on the LIRR. Get to mid-town in under 20 minutes. No traffic.

Good to know LGA is a mess these days. No way you can get from JFK to midtown in under 20 minutes, even if the planets align. JFK via LIRR is fine, I've done that to Atlantic Terminal before, works great. LIRR is less frequent than the subway and more expensive, but not much more expensive (I want to say 7$ but I'd have to check, also peak/non-peak rates) and trains are pretty frequent at Jamaica. OP should definitely consider EWR as well.

Was this recently? Just trying to get a data point. I know it was like that a few months ago. Things haven't improved?

no construction will be going on for another 5 years. logistics are still bad, the only relief is mid day after 10am to 1pm.

if you are leaving early morning/afternoon rush hour, good luck

Yeah it's going to be a headache until it's finished...I just figured maybe things improved over there. I guess not.

Yes about 3 weeks ago. It it was an off time too. The airport wasn't that busy, security took only 5-10 minutes.

Thanks. I've heard mixed reports. Makes sense to avoid it then.
