Of the 3 area ones: Newark by far.

If I had to pick a Queens one: JFK. I'll avoid LaGuardia like the plague.

I prefer flying in and out of JFK rather than LGA when possible. I think that there are more weather related delays at LGA than JFK. Also at LGA when leaving the airport one must wait outside for the bus as there is no train connection to the airport. But there is a lot more walking transferring between the JFK Airtrain and mass transit in Jamaica which for me is no problem but might be for someone else.

Newark the best? If you live in Newark, maybe. Otherwise it largely depends on your destination.

Newark is way better than the other 2 airports. Because it's both domestic and int. The commute to/from Newark Airport into NYC is much quicker and more comfortable.

And that makes it the best by far? OK then.

Probably not if you live in Queens.

Newark is too much of a hassle to get to if one lives in Queens. I think JFK has more international options than Newark in any case.

JFK is the busiest International Airport in the USA. EWR is fourth. (Miama and LAX are in between). JFK has more airlines/more terminals.

Sometimes it's a matter of price--last year I went to Europe. Flew Icelandic out of EWR to Amsterdam, and coming home flew Norwegian from London's Gatwick into JFK.

It's a hassle to get to/from JFK if you live in NJ, but we came in late at night and my ex-husband picked us up, and there was no traffic getting back.

Sigh. These threads always make me want to get on a plane and go somewhere!

Yup. Anyone saying Newark is the best by far is ridiculous. It's certainly a good airport, but it doesn't beat JFK or LGA by any considerable measure. Maybe if you live in NJ it does.
