It's scary, how he was preyed upon. Had he been drugged?
Apparently he got separated from his friends at the Hells Kitchen dance club. He texted them from outside the bar. After that was when he was seen on the surveillance camera with two men and a third following them. They went into a taxi. The three men got off somewhere in the Lower East side, using his phone to pay. They then told the driver to drop him off at a Brooklyn location. After the three left was when the driver realized he'd collapsed. When his friends reached out to him, they pretended to be him and turned off the location tracing apps. They had his wallet as well. They took all his money, about $20k.
It would be especially sad if those responsible for his death were from the gay community.
It wouldn’t surprise me. For fun, I’ve been to several of those places with my friends and have gotten my phone stolen, have seen people getting drugged, and even my friend got her expensive coat stolen from a coat rack. Another had her pocket book stolen as well. I don’t think it’s exclusive to that community, but I think it happens at those places often.
I also do not understand how you can get 20K out of a bank account.
My bank will only allow me to get 500.00 a day, that's it, and that's how it was set up.
It is a terrible thing that has happened, and makes me sick when people are befriended and prayed upon.
Always have to be smarter than the next one, always have to be one step ahead.

something is still so wrong with this story.
They didn't get the money out of the ATM - which is smart of them because there are cameras there.
This is how it happened, by account transfers on Zelle and Apple pay, etc.
"Between April 21, the day Julio Ramirez died, and April 25, his checking and savings accounts were depleted through purchases and third-party applications like Apple Pay and Zelle, Carlos Ramirez said.
“They had literally taken every dollar that he had, all his savings and all of his money,” Carlos Ramirez said, adding that approximately $20,000 was taken from his brother."
