It's sad and he probably was drugged (killed) and robbed. but I don't understand why they're lumping his case in with all "gay Latino men" crime victims.
A May 9 Instagram post read: “We urge you to raise awareness on the death of Julio Cesar Ramirez, to give a voice to gay Latino men who are victims of the crime in this city and to seek justice for the loved ones he left behind.
On Thursday, I saw police activity where personnel from the morgue covered a car with a sheet and was taking pictures and doing other lab work inside. I don’t know if this is related but I saw the car on 23rd street and 6th avenue - adjacent from the Best Buy.
Oh never mind. I just reread the article and saw the date.
Anyway i think he overdid the drug use and whoever was with him or found his wallet drained the account.
Really? It sounds more to me as if a group of 3 men befriended him at a gay bar and then got him to leave with them, then drugged him and robbed him and left him in a cab to die after they got access to his accounts.
The question I have was why did it take an hour for the cabbie to discover that there was a dead guy in the back seat. Did the other three get out and pay and then lay the guy behind the seat?
Once the three unidentified guys saw that the victim was passed out, they probably told the driver that they’re sharing a cab and to take the victim to X address or his “home” and got out. They probably rode for free as well. For all the cab driver knew the victim was probably sleeping.
It's scary, how he was preyed upon. Had he been drugged?
Apparently he got separated from his friends at the Hells Kitchen dance club. He texted them from outside the bar. After that was when he was seen on the surveillance camera with two men and a third following them. They went into a taxi. The three men got off somewhere in the Lower East side, using his phone to pay. They then told the driver to drop him off at a Brooklyn location. After the three left was when the driver realized he'd collapsed. When his friends reached out to him, they pretended to be him and turned off the location tracing apps. They had his wallet as well. They took all his money, about $20k.
I understand that some NYC taxicabs are equipped with surveillance cameras. Wonder if this particular cab was so equipped?
