They should be calling if they do indeed start to hire since its been 2yr since the medical (mine at least). Hopefully we will get more information come tomorrow (July 1st) when the new budget goes into effect.

technically guys not to bust anyones bubble but they could hire 200 or so guys and still the list not move. Everyone who turned the job down the first time has a chance to be reinstated back onto the list and have a chance to be called before 485 gets a shot(484 was the last hired).

Granted its unlikely that every single person that turned it down will take it now ...but dont be suprised if the list doesn't move too much if there are classes. After all its almost been 2 years since the last class. Alot of time has past. In that time people could of been laid off or something changed that where before they couldn't take the job now they are more able to ( and perhaps knowing that it took forever for them to hire again they wont make the same mistake again of turning it down ), after all if your list number 100 and you turned it down and 2 years past and now its open again wouldn't you jump on it as well?. If my list number isn't under 700 ( I am being nice... my gut feels like 600) then I wouldn't be too crazy about it.

But lets take it one step at a time... lets hope these classes happen for real.

Realistically though, how many people who turned it down then are going to take it now? I would think anyone who turned it down really wasn't that interested, no?

realistically I can see the first class being 70%-80% of those that turned down the job the first time around ... I think its the second class ( if there is a second ) being the one that really gets the list moving ... but dont expect it reaching into the 700 (thats just my assumption based upon the fact that there are guys between 485 and 700 that are willing to give anything to get hired lol )

look at it this way... 284 people didn't take the job... out of those 284 some where kick off the list for failing the medical and a few other reasons. Lets say only 84 people were removed off the list... so thats like 200 people that could be reinstated... maybe in those 200 some of them really wanted the job but couldn't get their CDL in time, perhaps they were too young to take the job, perhaps they didn't want to take the pay cut in salary but that doesn't matter now because they were laid off recently, etc etc.....

It ends on Sept 20th,2011. But yeah these next 2 classes will be under tier 4. Nespoli is fighting against Tier 5 but it might be inevitable sometime in the near future.

Thought the list moves when no hiring is going on... 2+ years wouldent you think if 200 needed it would get to list #1,000 for Medicals... I'm at #1450 and friends on job telling me I wouldent make this class but they said with my number definatly next class.... Ep what you think?

Epyon7280,im surprised that you didnt hear about this before the masses.

whats the word on retirement numbers?

whats puzzling to me is that the city would break its hiring freeze with dsny hires.i guess nypd, fdny, teachers are all to follow.i dont think anyone would of bet on classes for this year, keep em coming...
