If I saw two guys at a movie together, I would not assume that they were gay, that's silly. However, how would it be considered homophobic if someone did assume that? Maybe the person doing the assuming is gay and hopes that they are gay also. Just assuming that someone is gay is not homophobic, as there are people who consider being gay a good thing.

Now, if someone tried to sit as far as possible from the two guys that they assumed were gay or even left the theater because of them, then yes, that would be homophobic, that shows dislike for them because they were perceived as being gay. See the difference?

My son goes to the movies with his male friends. Don't really understand the issue here.

My male friends have never had a problem with this.

Are there really guys who still get freaked out by this kind of thing?

My husband goes to the movies with his brother and his old college roommate. I don't enjoy going to movies in general and prefer to wait until they are on DVD or on Netflix. I don't enjoy the crowds or the overpriced snacks. Its no different than two male friends having a drink with one another, going to the gym together or playing sports together. Some people should stop trying to label others and worry about their own lives.

I used to when I was younger. Now almost everyone has either a wife or girlfriend and it would be unusual if none of them were to come along, even if the movie was not to their taste.

I don’t see it that way, sometimes women want a “girls only night out”, and I think it’s the same for guys too every so often.

Utter nonsense. It's nobody's business to begin with who the people are. You are all there to watch the movie. I wouldn't worry about something like that at all. After all this is 2018, not the 1970's.

Fortunately my refusal to date a girl who has lame girly taste in movies means that I see every Marvel movie and most action movies or whatever else with my GF. She avoids the poorly made, lousy quality chick flicks the same as any guy would. But no, I have no problem seeing movies with guys, I just usually don’t care enough for that hassle and I go alone. I like to spend time with my guy friends gaming and hanging out not in a silent theater.
