Although there are several posters I think I would be friends with in person, I would not attend a C-D get together. I fear that my perceptions and reality would clash in a disturbing manner.
LOL YES! Some people on here have such a good thing going online. Why ruin it by taking it to the next level? A lot of people do much better online than they do in real life and vice versa.
I have a feeling that, after a couple of hours of cocktails, some forum peeps would start pairing up, giving the forums more to talk about in the weeks and years to come.
There are many people on CD that I have befriended over the years and would love to meet. Then there are some that I think I would just not ever want to meet in a million years for their behavior here online. On the other hand I have a feeling that a lot of those same people would never have the nerve to behave that way in person.

Good points.^^^^^
I've never met anyone from a CD forum and to be frank there are some that I would never want to meet.
There are posters who post so much about themselves that I already know too much about them and
am not interested in any more about the details of their lives. Then there are the ones who
dominate threads (you know, the know it all's).
However, there are some posters who do seem nice and on some threads where we seem to have
a lot in common.

I attended countless fests that were well attended on a Maryland Newspaper board I used to post on and I think I may have had 4-5 beers total. One does not have to drink and many don't.
That board is a shadow of it's former self since they started charging to post. I always had a good time at those events. It's a shame it's not possible for a big City-Data fest.
