due to the worker? Like you got unfriendly vibes on a regular basis and you don't want the person to poison you?

so if the worker doesn't go out of their way to be friendly you avoid them, yet grump when they try to make conversation by asking about your day. I suggest a vacation

I am NOT a grump!!! No way!!! It pisses me when people are grouches. I just don't want to be a walking, talking cliche.

some of the smallest things seem to be troubling you enough to post about them. somethings up and I do mean that in a most genuine way.

Default Troubling is a gross exaggeration

which is why so many people find themselves suffering so much. Labeling things in their most extreme forms is not accurate nor helpful.

What is "up" is that I am a curious person. I like to see if what I do is similar to what other people do.

I am an empath, which makes me very aware of other people's vibrations. So many people might not even think twice about a situation and it would be very uncomfortable for me. That doesn't make me neurotic or anything; I am just sensitive to subtler energy manifestations.

you maybe sensitive to vibes that doesn't mean how you interpret them is always correct. I have a pal who thinks people are giving her dirty looks and are being rude. I have been there as it happens and she is reading far more into the "look" she was given" then need be. most people are so involved in their own world they don't pay much attention to what others are doing or even thinking about how they may seem to others.

like you, perhaps the person doesn't want to engage in idle talk, nor even smile. is that a reflection on you or on the other person?

Very good question. And I do make sure not to always take it personally.

Okay, here is an example that drives me a bit batty: I used to frequent this one cafe and the owner or manager would always be cool to me. I am not concerned with that too much; it's a fact of life. But it was funny that some people would come in and he'd be like "Hi!!!" and start being really friendly to these other people and with me he wouldn't even greet me. I wouldn't stop coming for that silly thing. It was more like I didn't feel so welcome and so I was more motivated to go to cafes where the workers were friendlier, seemed to appreciate my business more, etc. What made me smile was when I went on Yelp and looked up that cafe and someone said the exact same thing that I thought: they were regulars, the owner was not friendly and yet managed to be friendly to other customers...So I saw that it was not just my perception .

people can be asses for sure. in a case like this if it bothered me which I doubt it would, I would either stop going to the cafe or I would make an attempt to be more friendly to the owner and see if he returned the curtsey or not. sometimes people are just busy and it isn't about you but them. in a case like this it is bad customer service to be sure. however it would be nothing I would ever take personal.

It's hard to explain to most people. They just say you're being "too sensitive."

There is a book called "The Four Agreements" and in it they say never to take anything personally. Like even if it seems like it's related to you, it's all in the conditioning of the other person.

I worked for a woman in a store and she would always be a bit cold to a certain customer. She told me that he "only" bought a gallon of milk a week. So it was obvious that she didn't think as highly of him due to that. I was thinking that the manager maybe was irked that I usually "only" buy coffee instead of their bread loaves, pastries, or whatnot.
