Old fogey here at age 64, not feeling your pain mostly because you didn't even bother to try to explain or describe it.
Also because every hipster ever known denies being a hipster.
Too funny!!!
Since I am in my late 40s, I haven't a clue about names of bands. Let's put it this way: it sounds like industrial noise. It sounds like what Hell must sound like.
The R&B supergroup The Ojays had it right, back in the 60s: "Give The People What They Want"
In one of the cafes I frequent, the patrons tend to be older: 30s-60s. The owner/manager usually plays classic rock but he's not there on the weekends and I just can't handle that sheet at 8 in the morning
I dont think I would be called a Trekkie. I watch the movies but I am not a die hard fan. I have never nor will I ever go to a Star Trek convention. Could care less if I ever meet any of the actors in the films or tv shows. I do like Sci-Fi which is why I have watched the movies.
LOL that is exactly what I thought when I read "electric drill with a beat".
I ate at one placed that played that. They play Pandora, and what station they're playing (and the volume) depends on who's working. One day I went in for lunch and the dubstep station was on. And it was turned up. I wasn't even paying attention when I was ordering, but by the time my sandwich was ready I was wishing they had a patio so I could eat outside, away from the speakers.

There's a plaza around here that pipes music into the parking lot, but the speakers aren't synced up. One speaker might be 5 seconds behind another. So as you're walking from one store to another it sometimes sounds like a record is skipping or like 2 different songs are playing.
I don't always like it either, but unfortunately the world does not revolve around me as it does you.
