It's funny. I find the people who claim up and down that they are Christian are the ones who are the quickest to talk about you behind your back. (Think Helen Lovejoy from the Simpsons.) I actually have a neighbor just like her.
I have NEVER heard of a protestant church that serves food and coffee an hour before the service! Usually it's coffee hour afterward (and if you are an Episcopalian followed by brunch and bloodies at the golf club.)
And yet these churches seem to be all over the OP's town. Is this a denomination I am not familiar with?
No thats just him coming up with more intriguing stories for us on CD! He has an active imagination for sure!

Wondered this, as well--as an hour before the service in Protestant churches, folks are in Sunday School.
now, 30 mins b/f service, some churches do have coffee and donuts (or soemthing similar) available.

Based on the OP's posting history, the title of the thread would probably have been more honest if it were worded, "The only nice and friendly people I meet are at a church, why?"

So glad to read that I'm Retired Now has finally found folks he gets along with.
I take my "coffee breaks" on C-D and I regularly run across I'm Retired Now posts. Always in a fuss, usually with relatives. It's a wonder he's ever invited to any family function.
That he hangs around churches to find those who will be pleasant to him speaks volumes.
In any case, I wish him well. Hope it works out well with the good Christians.
nooooooo, never bored enough to track down other member's posts. Just commenting on the question he/she asked today.
Fair enough. I didn't have to track him down though, he's been posting vitriolic nonsense here for awhile now. You'll run across one of his disgusting posts soon enough.

I grew up in church(es).
Most churches I attended served donuts and coffee one hour before the service.
These are usually for people who attend Bible Study.
I found people are only nice on Sunday. Most of these people are the total opposite once you meet them outside the church.
The fakeness was somewhat contagious as I found myself extra friendly, cheery and rather giggly on Sunday.
One of the reason why I stopped going to church.
I know it is said that one go to church to see God not the people. But I cannot help getting turned off on how these people treat one another.

Hope it's a long before he starts posting about how church people are all a bunch of two-faced backstabbers, just like his neighbors and relatives.

Ah, hope springs eternal. This is just a prelude.
