I'm Roman Catholic. We don't get snacks before mass
This fits my childhood experience perfectly. I wonder if the lack of snacks was so that the mass attendees didn't lose their appetite for that bland, unleavened wafer of bread? As minors we were rarely allowed to drink any of the putrid wine.

Grrrrr! This makes me so mad. People think going to church gives them license to be nasty the rest of the time and continue that behavior for a lifetime.

Just for kicks, today I went back to my old church in Louisville I went to before I became agnostic. Looks like I wore out the fake nice welcome because old friends didn't say hi to me.

I was almost hoping for an update from the OP yesterday. Something along the lines of, "Well I read the responses and several people made some good points so, when the missus and I went to church today, we tendered an invitation to a couple of the really nice people to join us for tea next Thursday afternoon ... "

That one's too easy, STT. That would have put them out-of-pocket for something. As it is, they are getting free breakfast.

Church people are nice in church because they put on an act for each other, but as others have so rightly pointed out they really are the biggest back stabbers there are and I would know because I worked for one.

"Owner's Boy" goes to a religious country club mega church that he tries to drag his employees to as a way to make himself look good, he has something to sell and needs the moneyed customer base. During the week he is greedy and materialistic, treats his employees like trash, thinks they should all be working for $8/hour.

Apparently this church does not teach about laying up treasures or the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, if they did their Lexus driving congregation would leave their money in someone else's offering plate.

Hope springs eternal even when the cause seems utterly hopeless.
