I'd say most all liberals would be great examples of losers.

I think of losers as people who are unkind, selfish and rude, and make repeated stupid decisions that cause them, and the people around them, to suffer the consequences.

Doesn't seem to surprise me on one to ask such a question. How is defining a person any different in judging them ?, and with that being said other than the good lord himself, who in the hell has the right to judge anyone. Every individual has a journey and what they go threw in life, making bad decisions or not, its what makes them who they are today. Theres many skeletons in many closets but regardless we all bleed the same as well as hurt the same. So why add "definition" in labeling a person, when that person ur labeling could be or could had been ur brother, sister, mother, father or possibly of 1 you look up to.....So, how does 1 define another a loser ?, i say, play them a game of chess and see who wins or loses.

People on government assistance that could provide for themselves but choose not to. Or people that made poor choices that led to their being on government assistance in the first place (got knocked up, got addicted, etc.).

This, as well as people with chronic legal issues. It's one thing to make a mistake or two, but when your life is defined by interactions with law enforcement, you're a loser.

My definition is people who do not live up to their potential because they just can't be bothered.

Again, not everyone will have the same potential. But the idea is that "of whom much is given, much is expected" or however that goes. I think I was a bit of a loser back in high school and early college, but I turned it around eventually. (On the other hand, I was also dealing with a lot of stuff on a personal development basis, so maybe I'm a bit harsh on myself.)

I do know a lot of people who had a lot of potential but decided it was more fun to drink and drug than to apply themselves. And it wasn't because of mental illness or any other valid excuse, it was just that they couldn't be bothered. It's not that they chose to live a simple, humble life - it's just that they always talked about doing xyz to better their lives, and then never bothering to actually doing anything. And then they woke up, middle aged, and their youth had passed them by.

So... someone who doesn't develop themselves in at least some aspect of their life is a waste, imo.

A majority of losers chose to be losers. Only they are too arrogant, clueless or entitled to admit it is their own doing. I point to Charlie Sheen are a perfect example of a loser, at least during his coke-binge "winning" years. Despite all his success, he was a self-absorbed man of very little quality. Did drugs to excess, blew thousands upon thousands of dollars are prostitutes, lost a role in a hugely successful sitcom, and burned bridges between colleagues, friends and family. All while insisting he was a winner and basing that assumption on money and how many porn stars he could afford to bang.

Someone with no concept of persistence or integrity.

Those are the most valuable traits IMO.
