Just bring lots of beer. Every guy likes beer. Haven't you seen king of the hill, alls you have to say while drinking beer is "yup" "uh-huh" and boom instant bonding. If this isn't an option then bring wine for the women. Every woman loves wine. Talk with them.
Why don't you tell Jeff that since he is a high powered attorney he should give your parents the money to pay their last four mortgage payments and their thousands of dollars of credit card debt? (from your thread in personal finance).
Try to talk with Jeff again, if he won't talk with you, join the women in the kitchen (I bet that they would enjoy some help with cooking and clean-up) or just sit right next to Jeff reading a good book. How about playing catch or a game with some of the kids? Can you invite a male friend, perhaps someone without a family, to join you and your wife at the dinner?
Are you sure that you even want to go to Easter dinner with your family?
Great point, germaine. This is also the person who 1. Has problems with his boss and doesn't necessarily believe feedback given by his boss. See that growing thread in Working/Employment posts. 2. I think this is the same person who split with his "crazy ex" and moved away. Now he wonders how to interact with her after "3 yrs. as she may be moving to where Adult Education lives." There are other "people" issues Adult Education has posted.
Either someone is having fun loading busy forums complaining about most everyone in his life, if they are real, or someone won't take responsibility for his part with every strained relationship he has. Each new complaint/thread makes me wonder.

Oh he doesn't want to talk with us women folk. All we talk about is our hair, makeup and shoes.
Didn't we go through this exact same thread several other times?
This! This would be your best bet..If you hate going to Easter Dinner(don't we all!) At least you can have some fun with these dull people!
I think making an ass of myself and keep talking to Jeff even when he does not respond, might be fun. What do I have to lose?
(There is an unofficial rule that the women talk to the women and the men to the men at the family events. I am not allowed in their area on holidays, nor are the other men.)
If I were you, I'd hang out with the women. I have the opposite problem. None of the men in the family can get/keep girlfriends/wives, so I end up being the only woman. And on holidays I do the cooking while the men hang out and talk, watch TV and drink. But I'm about to put an end to that. Just not doing it anymore.
Take a friend with you or as others suggested, join the women in the kitchen. There is no reason why men & women cannot interact at family functions. I have been to parties where women were mean & quiet so I spoke mostly to the men. You need to bond with maybe one or 2 people at the party to have a good time, doesn't matter what gender. Also, please don't assume that women just talk about hair, makeup, fashion, girly stuff. Just like men don't just talk about sports. Plenty of topics like politics, news, controversies, hobbies come up & you can share your opinions. People are well informed so you can bring up some popular topics & they will jump in the conversation.
See if your parents need some work done around the house. But SinceYoureRetiredNow, don't you do handiwork anymore?
