I just can't relate to people that don't like Country music. (girlfriend, fiance)

This is really kind of sad, because it says a lot about you..

Well I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in the pick-up truck
She got runned over by a damned old train
Well,it was "the perfect country and western song" after Steve Goodman wrote that last verse ...

It's easier for me to relate to people with common interests as I do. It gives us something to talk about. I'm open to listening to other genures of music depending what it is. In Church, it's modern Christian. In bars, sometimes a band is playing classic rock.

So I wrote this for you... I call it Country Love (hum along, won't you)
I want my baby back again;
She done left town with my best friend;
The mailman let me down again today;
And so I made that mother pay;
My dog's done died and it's freezin' rain;
Like a fool, I know she's gone;
But with the lord I'll carry on.
Thank you, thank you, I'll be back for the after dinner show in the Zebra Lounge.
Picking your friends on this kind of basis is pretty much how 5-year-olds do it. Most of us grow up and realize there is a whole world of differences in everything - and it makes life interesting.

Try this one for the lyrics of a "perfect country song,"You Never Even Call Me By My Name by David Allan Coe, reflecting "input" by Steven Goodman, one of my favorite writers. Excerpt:
Well a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the
Perfect country and western song because he hadn't said
Anything at all about momma or trains or trucks or prison or gettin' drunk
Well he sat down and wrote another verse to this song
And he sent it to me and
After reading it I realized that my friend had written the
Perfect country and western song
And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse goes like this here
Well I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in the pick-up truck
She got runned over by a damned old train

Laughed my head off!
