Ear. Plugs.

There's all sorts of house and street noises that we are used to, but they might keep our guests up.

Maybe some ibuprofen, too. Long drives and flights can give you a headache and aggravate joint/muscle pain, as can sleeping in a different bed.

In truth, if a friend is visiting you, he or she won't be spending much time in the bedroom. Unless this is a different kind of friend.

Well, a bed is great, tasteful bedding (I have slept under "Hello Kitty" blankets once)...Nightstand, alarm clock and a place to secure my .44 Magnum.....

I am going to vote a great big NO on the Febreeze. Yuck. Fresh flowers, chocolates and comfy bedding. Also, maybe a fan for white noice. I can't sleep without them.

I get that..I'm at the age where I like my space when travelling and i feel funny encroaching on someone else's. We can meet up for breakfast ,dinner, whatever, I'm fine with that. When I was much, much younger, I enjoyed staying with relatives. But now, not so much.

At night, I may want to roll out on the town , stay up late, drink my beer, watch YouTube, play games, read, whatever without disrupting the hosts.

I'm where I just like my independence a bit. We do this a lot in my family when we have gatherings as far as staying at hotels where a few relatives have homes.... and we end up having a great and pleasant weekend.

I think it’s ok, if you allow the smell to dissipate. My guest bedrooms get kind of stale, because they’re closed to keep the dogs out. A few squirts, the ceiling fan and an open window works for me.

A tidy bedroom, clean linens, soft pillows, a comfortable mattress. A nice warm comforter in cold weather, good a/c in the hot weather. Nice towels. Good quality chocolates or a small bundle of cookies, water bottles on the nightstands. The nice aroma of a home well lived in and a kitchen that is actively used fo cooking and baking is to me much better than flowers or Lysol

When one is old and curmudgeonly it’s all about comfort, a nice homey feel and prevention of bothering our hosts with geezer needs

Ear plugs don't work at all for me or most people I know, not only do they just fall out, but they're incredibly uncomfortable and no solution against noise. I always wonder how people "get used to" offensive noises. I can't sleep if there's any noise audible besides just white noise. I bring my fan to my best friend's house to drown out as much noise as I can and turn it up a bit higher, at least that helps more than anything else, but a house really should be quiet. If it's not, you need to redo insulation, add soundproof windows, and upgrade the place so it's quiet as a library. The indoors shouldn't sound like the outdoors.
