A white male friend of mine has been dating an Asian Woman and is falling in love. They have so much to talk about and are so attracted to each other but there is trouble in paradise. All of his friends/family are white and all of her friends and family are Korean. Both sides would prefer that they dated someone of their own race. Her friends and family are very cold to "the white guy" as they call him.

Have you ever dated someone of a different color or race and had trouble with friends and family that eventually drove you apart?

I'd tell the family and so-called friends to accept it or f*ck off, lovingly of course.

Reverse the genders, and that's my sorry tale. I'm not Korean though

The one year I've been away, the family's been glad they don't have to deal with me.

Most of the time I sit in a huge table of the extended family, brooding and hiding my discontent, at the jokes and slurs passing on my heritage, country and even race. She's quite timid to confront them. I'm quite indifferent to confront them too.

But this has been the case since I was born. My mother's family looked at me like I was an outcast, until they learned my Dad got super rich and was at the process of converting his boys into grade A kids

They'd be very happy if I get my second train wreck, which is looming in the horizon. And for the record, my first love affair was with a Parsi girl and that is a stellar one in train wreckage history. She married a man her parents thought was of better/pure blood. Exactly why I left the country. I ran away from my life.

I'll say it does suck colossus. I will never understand why anyone would treat the kid of a mixed relationship poorly. It's not the kid's fault. Anyway, i think racism is blasphemy against God--it's like saying that God didn't know what He was doing when he created us.

Man, I can't imagine anyone judging a great guy like you strictly by your skin color So sad that racism is alive and well in this world

It's much better in the states though, I get to hide in an ocean of different ethnicities. Nothing blows out unless you bag a classy lady, you effectively deal with the whole family But I've been through worst case scenarios that these are fairly negligible.

When my father died, I flew home. There was an half-a-day debate on where to bury him. At the spot reserved for his race (back in his village) or that of my mom. Mom's family started having butterflies in the stomach. But the catholic priests were nice to let us use the church's cemetery reserved for priests and distinguished laity. He worked for the laity for at least 25 years. Mind you, all these folks are catholics. But they're converts from the early 20th century. They have not given up their roots yet.

It's not even racism back in my home, it's more subtle, coz they still touch you, be friends, let you eat from the same table. But I was watching this movie Hidalgo once and the whole movie is on mixed horses versus thorough-breed. It's a great movie and nothing offensive, but I started to brood because I knew what it meant to be for a painted horse. They simply don't let you run in the race. Otherwise, you can just go graze in the pastures
