Charlotte is also working on becoming an energy center.

Since 2008, more than 100 firms announced4,050 jobs in the energy industry. While not all of those companies are majoremployers, there have been a few significant additions to the energy sector. In2009, WestinghouseElectric Company openedan office in Charlotte in response to growth in the nuclear energy business. The company now employs 120 people in Charlotte. In 2010, less than three yearsafter establishing a nuclear power presence in uptown Charlotte, CB&I(formerly Shaw Group), announced 225 newjobs, primarily in engineering. CB&I now employs 1,200 people in Charlotte.

Since2009, SiemensEnergy has announced severalprojects in Charlotte. Siemens Energy Inc. announced 226 jobs in 2009, and in2010, the company relocated its gas turbine manufacturing operations andnuclear instrumentation and control group to Charlotte. Siemens now employs1,800 people in the Charlotte area.

Charlotte at the rate it is growing in 7.35 year is 987,413. That will be a 153,593 increase in population from 2015 Charlotte population . Charlotte is growing by 20,479 people a year.

It this turn out to be near the numbers in 7.35 years, Charlotte will add 3.09 times more people than Raleigh.

I never see Forbes comparing Raleigh to Charlotte like this. It is always by the city on per cent to its self, which does not tell you anything when comparing Charlotte to Raleigh by actual numbers in population growth..

All those articles by Forbes mean nothing, unless the actual population numbers are given.
Raleigh540 lives and dies by Forbes. What is he going to do as Raleigh increases population and their per cent growth goes down.

It doesn't really take into account the things you mentioned which are true, in addition to other things that Charlotte does i.e. Mass Mutual, LPL Financial, MetLife, Vanguard, TIAA-CREF, among others. I'm not sure why BOA being HQd here making Charlotte the 2nd largest banking center bothers you. It is the truth. If Charlotte were to lose BOA it would not be the 2nd largest banking center, that is also the truth. But BOA won't leave so that is not much of a discussion. Relax a little bit and enjoy the thread. You have no confrontation with me.
And if B o A leaves Charlotte then what? Charlotte falls waaaaaay to the bottom of the top banking cities list. Boy, talk about having all your eggs in one basket

who care about Atlanta and Jacksonville in this forum. You act as if you think all people on forum has never heard of Atlanta and Jacksonville. Why do you keep posting about every city in the USA over and over. If this all you known, you are in trouble.

Plus you did not get Atlanta and Jacksonville population right.
Atlanta MSA blows Charlotte and Raleigh MSA out of the water.

We've been through this before. All of Charlotte's eggs are not in one basket. More than likely BOA doesn't leave Charlotte. If it does Charlotte will still be ok. Right now Raleigh is poised to be secure with technology and research but anything an upend that. No one knows what the future holds. I certainly hope that doesn't happen to Raleigh. But don't you think it's ironic that Charlote has all of its eggs in one basket with financial services but feel Raleigh doesn't with technology?
