After this latest round of development, to use Raleigh as a reference since they are the 2nd largest city, the 2nd tallest there would be the 14th (probably 15th depending on tryon place final official height) Tallest in Charlotte

The building could be increased in height. It's supposedly like 60% leased. So this round, we will have gotten 4 major office buildings uptown with maybe a 5th. So far mostly financial firms and banks Confirmed and rumored bank expansions (US Bank, Bank of America). Also Bank of America supposedly is going to be building a large building uptown.

On another exciting note, the ambitious transit plan is to have the red line, silver line and gold line complete by 2030. Supposedly Iredell county is cooperating on the red line
True the 580 ft tall office tower would be 27 feet taller than project 561 proposed for Greensboro. But the 588 tower would still be in Charlotte. Unless Raleigh has something in the works, project 561 in Greensboro would be the tallest building in NC outside of Charlotte. Im just glad to see Greensboro finally going taller than 300 plus feet. Greensboro is finally growing up. Two or three decades ago it was about Charlotte, Raleigh and Greensboro then Charlotte and Raleigh left Greensboro behind in the dust and all people talk about now is Charlotte and Raleigh. Greensboro is well on its way to be mentioned in the same circles again.

I know. It just puts it into perspective For me and probably for people who complain hey should add 10 more floors because it's looks so stout.

The architecture is a throwback to the 90's for sure. Not sure if that's a good thing just yet.

Not when Durham is hot on its heels. Greensboro needs more than tall buildings to even be in any serious conversations.

It's a nice city though. I really do enjoy it for what it is.

The talk isn't because of tower size, it's because of population and growth. With that, Greensboro isn't making any progress because the two other cities continue to put distance on it every year and by every population metric.

Raleigh's Smokey Hollow project continues to grow larger with Kane (re-developer of North Hills) and partner gobbling up more contiguous properties on the east side of Glenwood South. The first phase is the already announced project at the corner of West St. and Peace St. This project is 12 floors and is approved for over 600 housing units and a grocer. The total land assemblage is now 16 parcels between Peace St. and the existing West condo tower on North St. Given Kane's track record with North Hills (that continues to grow) and The Dillon (under construction just several blocks south of this assemblage), he's proving to be a "go big or go home" sort of player. Glenwood South is the NW corner of DT and the maximum building height in this area, as it transitions to nearby single family home neighborhoods a few blocks to its west, is 12 floors & 150 ft. From the article below, it looks like Kane wants to maximize the properties' potential.
