So their banking practices(so you say) have anything to do with their stance on treating employees fairly and standing up against what they feel as a company is wrong? So we should just let one of the largest employers in the Metro, who has their corporate headquarters here walk because you don't like how they bank? What does that have anything to do with this law?

Here's the point: when an institution like Bank of America tries to take the high moral ground, hold on to your wallet.

Just as a start, look into the career of their last CEO, Ken Lewis, whom some say was instrumental in bringing the world close to financial ruin. I have heard from a reliable source that he told BofA executives in 2008 to "pack their offices," as the entire financial system was "coming down."

If you think that BofA is anything but an amoral shark -- like most other businesses -- then you are completely naive. So again the point: When an organization like this tries to take the high moral ground, hold on to your wallet. And don't fret -- they're not "walking" anywhere unless it is in their short-term financial interest to do so, in which case they will walk whether HB2 ever existed or not.

Bottom line (no pun intended): BofA needs to tend to their own culture before lecturing anyone else about what's "right."

This underscores the nature of the GOP as I stated in the other thread, the GOP isn't interested in the economic well-being of others but would rather condone a set of self righteous convictions and values that are outdated and unrealistic.

The irony of it all, the potential lost of BoA HQ and other related jobs while Patty and team are out courting and trying to lure other business to the state. It is the highest form of ignorance and arrogance.

BoA can do whatever they want to do with respect to internal policies, etc. This is about discrimination, not about BoA cultural or moral high ground...wtf?

We live in an age of terrible government across the board. No, the GOP is not interested in the economic well-being of others, nor is the democrat party. Both have only one interest -- their own.

There is zero chance that BofA will leave NC, unless it is in their own short-term economic interest, in which case they're as good as gone irrespective of HB-2. Think about the massive outflow of textile and furniture jobs, which had absolutely nothing to do with the kind of trivial morality that anti-HB2 prigs talk about.

For the record, I'm using the Fowler and Gowers definition: " [a prig] calls in the first principles of morality to decide whether he may, or must, do something of as little importance as drinking a glass of beer." They go on to note three characteristics of the prig: (1) the desire to do his duty, (2) the belief that he knows better than other people, and (3) blindness to the difference in value between different things."

Here's a perfect example of politicians at work, all chasing the high moral ground, of course: CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - "A bipartisan group of more than 40 Connecticut legislators has written a letter to Charlotte-based Bank of America inviting the corporation to relocate its corporate headquarters to Connecticut. "

By the way, you diminish your stature and weaken your argument when you use the "wtf?" construction.

Megyn Kelly wasn't just hard on him. She wouldn't let him get the truth out that Charlotte City Council started all this. There was no need for a bathroom law. Our governor and legislature were just protecting the public from an unfair action by the Charlotte City Council.

I was shocked when Megyn wanted him to ignore the locker room part. This woman used to have creditability but not for me any more. When you ask a question at least let the person you are interviewing answer it.

No Loretta Lynch can't go home again. Our governor is doing just fine. This has me thinking he would be a good vice presidential nominee for Trump. Our government officials took on the Obama administration and Obama has been trashed. If you don't believe it, look at other threads on City-Data.

North Carolina's motto is "To be rather than to seem." Truth will win this one.

Obama administration "done gone" and picked on the wrong state. Proud to be a North Carolina Native!

Their new CEO has done that, and is continuing to do that. If BofA thinks that this law will hurt their bottom line and employees they will walk, and while you make think that is fine because you see them as an amoral company I can promise you our city, county, and state economy will show you it is not fine.

What is funny to me is the GOP side is all about big business and deregulation, and when the GOP puts in bad regulation and big companies buck against it the company is a bad thing. But when a big company balk at any DEM policies, its the libs are killing everything. The irony is so strong.

McCrory wants the Congress to revisit the 1964 Civil Rights Act to permit segregated bathrooms.

"I think there's a time where the Republicans and the Democrats in this Congress need to revisit the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and revisit all this issue..."

This issue being bathrooms and McCrory wants segregated bathrooms.

"McCrory argued that the solution was to "make special circumstances" by allowing the transgender girl to use a segregated bathroom."

Will there also be segregated water fountains?

Bro, your Carolina Panthers wouldn't be here without those companies. Charlotte would be on the same level as Greensboro and wouldn't stuff any professional teams, much less an NFL team.

Let me guess you have no daughters or granddaughters. Men in women's restrooms sounds like a nightmare to me. When can we get some civil rights for women and children? When did women and children become second class citizens with no rights to privacy and safety? Talk about a war on women.

So only "morally perfect" companies can make a stand? Every company and people have faults. Trying it make them jump over some dumb hurdle before they make a political stand is just dumb.
