Please name one competitor to an established full service bait shop that popped up with all that new development in Pittston twp.

p.s. - Wallyworld (with a few styro containers of worms in a mini fridge and their clueless employees with product knowledge levels similiar to uninformed college kids hiding in the aisles of Lowes or Home Depot don't count).

The fact is, that Ray's Bait, once located in Dupont, (with the nearest competitor located on Wyoming Ave in Exeter or 8th street in West Wyoming), has been out of business for close to 10 years now for reasons which have absolutely nothing to do with Pittston Twp development must have slipped right by you.

p.s. - I knew Ray pretty good too, almost as well as I knew the K's..

Your wings should be getting warmer right about now.

Crazy posters on here! Pittston is sure developing and there are changes going on everywhere. Hopefully we as a community focus on embracing it rather than fighting it. We need to realize change will happen and some of it we cannot control. Has anyone heard about the riverfront development, what do you think about that? Pittston downtown is starting to look great and has recently been evolving for the better. Somniare, I think that a few of the original owners wanted to pass it down to the children but the contract did not allow it. Once they passed away they were bought out and then it came down to only a few who decided to just sell, if the other owners children were involved that place would still be running.

There's a difference between Pittston and Pittston Township. You're aware of this, correct? All of the sprawl that's coming to the township, including Pittston Crossings, is benefiting the financial bottom line of the township---not the city---and it is often coming at the expense of the city's rebirth as retailers that otherwise would have chosen sites in the central business district instead site themselves along 315. I'll agree with the streetscape program and facade assistance program the city proper is starting to "look" better, but I do worry about its long-term prospects if measures aren't taken to curtail its decades-long population nosedive (that, according to most recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates is continuing to occur). Ironically the township has even lost population despite all of the new residential construction occurring there. Pittston's largest hurdle will be to successfully reinvigorate its Downtown when so much historic charm has been lost to bulldozers over the years. The last time I was in the city St. John the Baptist Church had been decimated for a parking lot, and buildings on the northeast corner of William & North Main had been razed for new construction (which will stick out like a sore thumb as a modern structure unless it's done with a keen eye towards integrating its facade with the otherwise historic ambiance of the city). Just think of all that's been lost Downtown over the years---the Flatiron Building, the Borr & Casey Building, the American Theater---I can go on and on. Pittston could have been like the valley's version of Jim Thorpe had prior leaders had the vision to demand historic preservation.

Who would you define to be a "crazy poster", by the way. Inquiring minds would love to know.
