Looks like we have two festivals to choose from this year!

Lion Brewery October 12-14 Genetti's:

Lion Brewery Oktoberfest 2011 at Genetti's featuring John Waite

Oktoberfest at Mohegan September 16, 17, 18 Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs:

PA Oktoberfest

I know someone pushed the 2010 thread up but I thought it better to have a thread with the current year in the title to avoid confusion.

It's a shame they don't have the Lion Brewery Oktoberfest on the brewery grounds anymore... That was so much fun! I can't imagine it will be better at Genetti's.

I'm sure there is a good reason why they are not having it on brewery grounds. Honestly, it lacks a certain character to hold it at a hotel instead of at the Lion.

Speaking of Lion Breweries Oktoberfest, Lion just put out a new Pumpkin Ale... "Stegmaier Pumpkin Ale". It's very good! Just sampled some last night. I too wish they would continue the outdoor event. Indoors at Genetti's kind of sucks the fun out of it. The old one at the brewery was the best. You have to hand it to Steg/Lion, they do put out some really good brews.

Love supporting hometown industries.

Default Steg of my heart!

Always buy a case when I come home to visit my family. I always try to support local businesses, even when they come from my former locality. Generally I will buy Yiengling for the same reason. Keep good ol' PA people working.

Just a quick review for those who were not there:

PA Oktoberfest was ok. Very CROWDED on saturday night a lot of waiting in lines depending on what tent you were trying to get a drink in... Im sure it will get better in the future as this was the first run of it. The Wiener dog race was pretty funny, my friends dogs were in it. The Beer was kinda pricey (for this area) though i guess im spoiled by 50 cent drafts at the local social club lol. And its the casino so we all know how that goes. It helped that they are all dark beers that are meant to be enjoyed more slowly than a miller lite so it wasn't like i spent a ton of money. I will give this event a 7 out of 10 with a lot of promise for next time around.

It was a plus to eat some fried foods and get some crisp autum air since I will be missing out on a lot of that due to the cancellation of the Bloomsburg Fair this year. I might have to call off a full week of work for the fair next year just to get my fill.
