Kosita - I could post up links to the New Black Panthers and the hateful words they spew.

It is what it is.. but the fringe groups are certainly in the minority (no pun intended).

Most likely a black guy dressed in hip-hop garb will get some looks if he enters a country bar (and most likely will hear some comments like "pull up your pants and straighten your hat".) Nothing more then some friendly fashion advice.

A white guy guy dressed in camo that goes in a bar in North Philly may or may not fair so well.

Fair enough. With all due respect, I still say (and it is my opinion on the matter) that this area is way far behind the times concerning tolerance for others. NEPA has been known to be a place where people can live in tolerance and are usually very friendly and open minded when it comes to civility, tolerance and good conscience toward others. I've lived in NEPA long enough to know. Clothes do not make a person good or bad, neither does the color of their skin, it is their CHARACTER. It does not have to 'be what it is' if you do not allow it yourself.

Soooo. with that being said, racism and rude behavior should not be tolerated in NEPA or elsewhere, if someone is being rude to you just let them know the behavior is not the norm and that you do not have to take it. Walk away, and if it happens on a store (whether in Hawley, anywhere in NEPA) then let your money do the talking for you, and talk loudly, take your business elsewhere. It's a matter of principle, in NEPA and elsewhere. Respect others so you can be respected.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

Does not give you the right to knock an entire population of people in NEPA.

Life is "what it is" and it is different all over.
