Hypothetically,

If I were to catch a flight, what would be the best way of getting to Dulles w/o a car? Keep in mind this would only be me just traveling with a backpack and maybe a carry-on. I ask this as I was at Dulles not too long ago and I see numerous buses coming in and out of IAD.

You can metro to West Falls Church and catch the Washington Flyer bus from there. It runs about every 30 min. Or you could metro somewhere else and take a cab.

You could also call the Super Shuttle shared van and take that.

If you can take metro to West Falls Church, you can take the Washington Flyer. Another option is express bus 5A from L'Enfant Plaza.

5A sounds good, I'll keep note about the limited hrs.

Any idea what a cab would cost?

Do any hotels near you operate shuttles? Even if you had to pay them.

There might be some, though I've heard they're "expensive". I'm not a visitor to the area if that's what you're thinking since I don't stay in a hotel. Metro would be a close bet unless my flight leaves late nights or early am.

Anecdotal evidence that Dulles' connection will draw some Maryland users of DCA/BWI?

I think $60-70, depending on what part of MoCo. I suggest the Super Shuttle also, as the fare was $40 the last time I took it.

Yes, but no evidence was needed. Many Marylanders use Dulles airport despite the lack of connections (bridges) over the river. I take some international flights that only Dulles has.
