The police used low-flying helicopters and shock grenades and then beat him up. Does anyone know what cops were involved, especially if they were from Fairfax County? One article said that the Park Police charged him, but he's being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and will go before a FC judge on Thursday.

I don't care about his opinions. I just don't want police-state tactics going on in my county.

It's a little sad on both sides.

I don't believe in civil disobedience; it's just an excuse for adults to behave like children. It's one thing if we lived in an oppressive regime of some sort, but in the US there are plenty of effective avenues to get your agenda heard and accomplished without breaking laws. The reason we have a system of government and courts is so that individual nut jobs don't impose their interpretation of freedom on others. I am not saying this guy is a nut job, but he broke the law, and acted in an aggressive manner to imply violent intentions. I certainly felt threatened while watching his video.

Disclosure: I am an NRA member and own multiple instances of a fire arm.

An armed felon who has admitted he would use violence...seems justified to me. Perhaps you should use legit sources for news.

Fairfax is the county that busted into the guy's house for being naked inside the house. So if you think that raids could only happen to right-wingers and not to you, be aware that they could get you on "assault with a dead weapon."

Don't forget the recent water incident in C'Villes.

When we lived in DC, there was a similar type of "storm trooper raid" on the adjacent rowhouse (a combined ATF/FBI/MPD action). Not surprisingly, we were not given advance warning, and I remember seeing the flares go off suddenly and hurling myself on top of my toddler to protect him from the bodily injury I assumed was imminent.

The point being that, while one can debate whether that raid was justified in this instance, what's hard to argue with is the notion that it can actually make other residents in the area feel less safe and secure about the place where they live. Do people in that part of Herndon come away thinking this type of action makes them feel protected, or do they decide they might prefer to live somewhere with a lower likelihood of yellow tape, detonated locks, and flares? You can win the battle and lose the war.

I don't see how enforcement action can be detrimental to the image of a neighborhood. A neighborhood with high crime rate will see more enforcement, and the reverse is also true. The enforcement is the effect while the crime is the cause. Lack of enforcement only makes a neighborhood more attractive to criminals.

I wonder what infowars would have said about this occurrence under a Republican president. But as we all know, the police state started only under Obama, so thats just a hypothetical.

The guy threatened to start a revolution against the government and loaded a gun in a jurisdiction where that is illegal. PS it wasn't FFX Co police responding because of that fact.

The thing about standing against a law you dislike is, when you do, you receive the punishment of that law. I don't shed a single tear for this guy having a scary moment at his house, and no where in any reputable source did it say anyone even laid a finger on his delicate skin; I'm sure they arrested in normal fashion.
