Maybe that was peaceful, but since then he has gone off the rails, has openly threatened violence, committed a felony, and has become anything but the "law-abiding gun owner" he says everybody is.

You have missed the point. He did not threaten any violence, and the purpose of committing the felony was to civilly disobey a law he feels is unjust.

Hopefully he takes it all the way to SCOTUS.

D.C. is dangerous - I'd want to right to be armed there too.

I think the law IS wrong.

When the DC police found out about his video, they said that they didn't have time to bother with with it. They have real crimes to solve. But after stewing for five days, the Park Service folks just couldn't help themselves. I'm sure their conversation was like some of the people above about "committing a felony, going off the rails" etc.

So they took a little noticed PR stunt and made it grand. Instead of just catching him outside his house or serving a warrant, they proved his point and made him a hero.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh man, yea I know I feel really scared in freedom square too

Oh my GOD watch out that guy's suit might be concealing a knife!

It is surrounded by the most dangerous types, who knows what kind insanity the workers at the Canadian Embassy are cooking up!

I heard there are unruly people who drive around DC all the time, parking their trucks, and asking people what they want. Raises the hairs on the back of my neck

You have to stay in shape to fight off the extremely strong athletic criminals who call Freedom Square their "stompin grounds"

Say bye bye to your boy crush, he's gonna find out that you can't just pick and choose which laws you want to follow and that the sovereignty of states rights (which apply to DC btw so I couldnt care less if its actually a state) are something that this particular supreme court has guarded fairly closely. So $200k and 3 years later, that dude is not only going to continue to serve his sentence for felony drug possession (I had no idea it was shrooms, yea he should definitely go to jail for that) as well as inciting a riot, and yes for illegal possession of a firearm (a loaded one at that) in the District of Columbia.

I believe DC's gun laws are unconstitutionally restrictive. There are many places in DC (not those immediately above) where one would want to carry a concealed weapon but cannot legally do so. I've lived in DC and worked there for many years--but no way will I ever go to Gallery Place or Adams-Morgan at night unarmed--which means not at all until the law changes.

That said, this guy in Freedom Plaza is a complete idiot. If you load a shotgun within spitting distance of the White House--on video--you deserve to have your house raided.

I don't have a boy crush. Adam is an activist and I respect and admire that.

So the stormtroopers wore masks. Adam Vs The Man | Anchoring the Internet 7 Days a Week The only real reason for this is to avoid legal responsibility. It would be "Who shot that woman?" "I don't know, he or she was wearing a mask." "Did any of you police officers shoot her?" "No." "Oh well. Could have been a stranger who walked in for all we know. No one guilty here."

I mean, why not have police officers, wear masks and stop wearing name badges? Why not judges or other government officials?

If the Herndon cops helped, then I don't have a very high opinion of them either. I'm calling my representatives tomorrow now that I know who was involved. For one thing, Governor McDonnell should tell DHS to keep their political police out of our state.

If a tourist brandishes a gun in DC to stop an attack, should they expect storm troopers to bust in their door if they manage to get home? The urban assault sounds like a political move, but to be honest, I am beginning to think that just about anyone could get raided and possibly killed by out of control cops.

Do you have evidence of this?
