What is Nova? I see it referenced quite a bit.

You will also see "DMV" a lot on these forums, which can refer to (a) the much maligned Department of Motor Vehicles, or (b) Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.

I thought DMV referred to the District, Maryland and Virginia (DelMarVa refers to the combo you mentioned).

I refuse to use that one. Sounds like an Eastern Motors ad or something. DMV is the Patty/Selma place. The region is the DC Area or Greater DC--or, as people from NYC think of us, "NiederJersey."

Frankly, I've noticed that the term "DMV" gets used much more often in the black community around here. 95.5 always uses that term too for some reason.

Personally, I don't think they could have came up with a more lame acronym if they tried.

You're so wrong.....Deleware is not the DMV. It stands for DC, I mean that's the just common sense because deleware is not apart of the DC area. And yeah the acronym is so lame to be honest

I've noticed "the DMV" has become very popular recently ... I personally can't stand it. It either brings to mind the Dept of Motor Vehicles, or for me, it sounds so close to DMZ that I keep thinking "demilitarized zone"

DelMarVa is for people talking about the coastal areas.

In northern Virginia, "Nova" is also the Northern Virginia Community College.
