The kitty in the picture belonged to the owners of the property (family friends) there were 3 of them and they were quite 'helpful' while we were fishing.

More like a hyperactive 2 yr old...after drinking a pot of coffee and eating a pound of sugar!

He was adorable but he was a REAL handful (literally!) Insatiable curiosity coupled with boundless energy... He would go from one spot to the next pulling things off shelves trying (very successfully) to get into every cabinet and drawer he came to... if he saw one of us do something he would quickly mimic what we did to get something open. We had 48 hours of NoNo! Come here! Don't do that! and Uh Oh! The daughter and I were exhausted by the time we got him off to his new habitat!

We also had 48 hours of non-stop laughter with that little clown!

Playfully "attacking" my arm:

He fell in love with this this stuffed toy and took it with him when he left.

I also have a couple of less than flattering shots of him ON my head...where he enjoyed mussing and grooming my hair. He was especially fond of the Mister's salt&pepper colored beard...he would climb on his shoulder and pat his little hands all over the hubby's face.
I think he thought the hubby was a giant raccoon!
I love these! They are great. For some reason, I really like racoons; I guess because of their curiosity. They are fantastic creatures, really intelligent. Please, post away!

Default Around my yard...

Since the Monarchs are still passing through, I thought I'd try and 'capture' a few (on camera of course! ) from my front porch.
Wind kept gusting and blowing them out of the frame, but I caught a couple!

Saw a shadow go by and caught this guy soaring overhead:

I hear a rustling in my tree! Wonder what it is??

Aha!:

I guess I'd better leave some food at the base of the tree again this year, since you've built a den.

wow, those were great!
Refresh my memory (as it's been a long time since I had the opportunity to catch catfish), what particular type of catfish is that? If I had to guess I would say Channel Catfish???? Not sure on that.

Man that makes me miss home!

Thanks for the pics, now I want a raccoon, lol

I posted a link for jessaka in the 'bugs' thread. Its a Canon Power Shot S5 IS ... even with the image stabilization I STILL need a tripod sometimes. (darn my hands!)

He tells me the big ones were Flathead Catfish, and the paler ones are Blue Catfish.

And you really REALLY don't want a Raccoon for a pet! Unless your house is totally 'baby-proofed' and you have an INSANE amount of energy! Their hands are unbelievably soft though... we did love his curious little face pats. When he was 'play-fighting' he would drop his head, bunch up his body and start bouncing across the floor... growling and gnashing his teeth the whole time. He was quite a clown!

We decided the safest place for him to sleep would be in a Large Dog crate we had...unfortunately he did NOT agree. The daughter woke us up in the middle of the night to complain that he was TOO noisy... I went to check and found him running his food dish back and forth across the metal gate as loudly as he could! (Like the jailbirds in old movies) As soon as he saw me, he threw down the dish and stretched his little arms as far as he could through the bars...talk about a heart-breaker!

well, so much for my memory, lol. Thanks, I forgot about flat head catfish. Yea, I don't think I would want that much noise from mr. raccoon, but he is just adorable....kind of like a 2 yr old toddler, lol.

Great pictures of the butterflies and the turkey vulture. It is hard to shoot them when they keep moving around.

Default strange...

We went to Seminole today to visit with our priest. As we were pulling in, I snapped a pic of the church, it was just a drive-by snapshot with no focus or centering. And we hadn't even parked yet. Yet it came out with some strange effects.

Check out the three beams of light coming down.

Strange looking, but kinda cool. Way cool.

It looks like a rainbow...but there's nothing in the shot to show what is refracting the light...very cool indeed!
