Default 26, Young Professional Looking to Move to OC/California

I currently live in Manhattan and work at a large financial institution. I will have completed an MBA this Spring and was considering California for a change. My income is 120k+ and can expect the same there. I live in a studio apartment for 2k a month rent, anything in Califorina would be much bigger. I love the nightlife New York has to offer but I do want the warm weather and beach. I am 26, very into fitness, nightlife, and athletics.

Can anyone please give me an area I should move? Some ideas are Newport Beach, Irvine, Huntington Beach, etc.

I moved here from Manhattan myself, OC definitely has great weather, great things to do outside. HOWEVER, OC is very family concentrated, I am married with a young baby.

There is nothing here that can compete in terms of nightlife with NY or any major city, you will most likely be very bored unless you want to drive to L.A...which would suck.

To be totally honest unless you enjoying surfing or mountain biking a lot, I would not move to OC as 26 and single. Especially not if you enjoy urban life and nightlife.

As an X-Manhattan resident, I would say STAY THERE much much more to do for a young person.

Balboa peninsula (part of Newport Beach) at the beach, or Silverado Canyon in the foothills (surrounded by Cleveland national forest). Balboa is expensive. If you do not share an apartment, figure on doubling the cost that you pay now.

No nightlife to speak of. Balboa has a little, especially in the summer.

The choices of Newport, Irvine and Huntington Beach area all good choices. Irvine is very familish, but their are newer developments that are geared towards young professionals with access to restuarants, etc. Making $120k, you will have no problem here, but that also depends on your other expenses. You can also check out Dana Point and Laguna Beach, a little more laid back then Newport.
The great thing about the area is everything is pretty close bye, so if you were to move to say Irvine, then newport is only 10 minutes down the road.
I would recommend coming out and vacationing to check the area out.

Move to Los Angeles or stay put. No real night life in Orange County compared to Los Angeles.

Huntington may be the only place that has some nightlife, but its beach community nightlife.. goin to bars, couple of party places, but not much more than that

There are new condos going up by the Irvine Spectrum and the spectrum has some life, but it's mostly revolving around Dave and Busters and the movie theater

I would say San Diego area or if you want L.A. definitely Manhattan Beach. Lots going on there...restaurants, bars and a very young vibe. All the beach areas are packed during the summer but if you already lived there you would only have the hassle of trying to go somewhere else. Lived in L.A. 45 years and now live in Concord

Newport has a large financial district, but as others said, its not a nightlife for a young guy as yourself. I'm 25 and have recently gotten married, so its great for me, but we have to drive up to LA for that type of fun. When I lived in San Diego, downtown always has something doing on. Again, not like NYC or LA, but something. They too have a very strong financial district in La Jolla and downtown.

What type of nightlife are you looking for and what type of music? What athletics do you enjoy? And, are you upper body fitness only? Just curious. I hope you figure out what you're looking for. Let me know if I helped
