I am laughing so hard but the truth of the matter is, these folks need $$$. The city is not getting as much money from all the other sources they used to generate millions. And they need to generate income to keep the police force. I don't even understand the purpose of a ticket???? Is it suppose to punish you? Or show who is the boss? What you should be scared of are the motorcycle cops and sherif guys. Those guys are auto-ticket. Either way, they should just take the damn donut and let you off the hook... Last time I went to pay for a ticket on Jamboree probably I saw 1000 people waiting in line. NOT COOL at all. The whole damn process is designed to waste your time and force you to just pay it and get the hell out. Until next time...

I would not let some crusty old guy touch my lips.

And to the next poster I so sick of the old donut jokes. I have not ate a donut in about 20 years I hate sweets. Most of the deputies I worked with were fitness fanatics. I have been working out 5 days a week since 1989 and eat very little junk. Sure there are some fat deputies and if you go to the eastern and southern states there may be more. A lot of southern California agencies actually offer incentives for officers who stay in shape.

Quite possible, although we go by O.C.S.D.

It's a common practice among many local Californian city police depts that's known as 'selective enforcement'.

When cities enjoy the benefits of low crime rates, it liberates police resources. City authorities usually choose to utilize these otherwise unproductive resources as revenue-earners of sorts by sending them out with a mandate to crack-down on cash-producing "crimes" & "infractions", ..many of which can seem to be quite trivial & petty.

In the particular SoCal city you cite, Irvine, even washing your car on the street is a fineable offense for example!
