I have spent a lot of time in Orange County and L.A but have never flown out for a week or so...Does anyone have any idea financially how much it costs to fly from say washington dc or baltimore md to LAX/or john wayne in long beach, and renting a car...my friend said i could stay with him but i dont know if i want to put that on him...none the less for trip tickets, a car, and food, etc...does anyone have any idea an estimated price for a trip for a week like that. I will probably be staying in Huntington Beach.

Thanks a lot.

exactly what I would have suggested. Flights can vary all over the place.

Airfare bounces around. Figure anywhere from $250 to $700 for a flight. Try Travelocity, or if your plans are flexible go on priceline.com

Car rental runs about $28 per day at the bottom end. it will be $35 per day when you are done with taxes etc. Rent for a week is a cheaper daily rate. Remember food costs more thanmostpplaces.

LAX and Long Beach Airport have nonstop flights from Washington DC and Baltimore, while John Wayne doesn't typically John Wayne is going to be more expensive.

From Washington Dulles you have United, American, and Virgin America nonstop to LAX. Jet Blue flies nonstop to Long Beach from Dulles

From Baltimore International you have United and Air Tran nonstop to LAX.
