O, wow! Science buff here. Glad you got to ID the space station. When I lived north of Atlanta, I saw the light reflected off the space station and one of the shuttles as it neared to dock, I believe.
It still is hard to imagine that something that far away can be seen so clearly on the ground... just specks of light, mind you, but wonderful to see anyway.
I've seen it pass over a few times. My almost 5 yr old Gdaughter was over around 5-7 Pm. I just happened to hear on the news it was gonna appear on the horizon to the west. From what the weather guy said I had about 2 minutes before it would first be seen. So I hollered at the gkid and we went outside. Sure enough a minute or so later there it was. We watched it several minutes. Then back indoors told my wife she could still see it. She said what the little dot ...

Here's the NASA site that tells you the sighting opportunities. Just run your mouse across the top box, over Realtime Data, and you can plug in your location info and stuff. It's really a cool, user-friendly site. One time, I saw the ISS and a space shuttle flying one after the other, very close-looking and couldn't imagine what someone who saw that might have thought! Like UFOs chasing each other!
