Advertisements

I have a great distaste for some companies and their advertisements, whether on tv or in print or online. Most are attempting to play on customer's vunerabilities...

The socially-condoned quest to be perfect, younger, sexier, more physically-fit etc. allows companies to take your money.

Hair products...dye yours to look younger!
Cars...buy this Corvette and you look really cool & get the girl!
Facial creams/Botox...OMG, never let a wrinkle show, ever!
Constantly changing clothing styles & colors& hems ...buy the NEW fashions or be frowned upon as not chic or worse: out of style!
Shaving products for men...Guys buy this razor and you can be like Clay Matthews!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

I no longer ascribe to the bs of mass market Xmas adverts. More consumers are spending this year? yeah, according to "Money magazine" where published articles are written by department store marketers.

'branding' has become yet another symbol of narcissistic american society. Once you tune out the tv ads, stop buying trash ragazines and "pop culture" agenda, it is so much easier to stay sane.

Its quite enlightening to detox from the brainwashing.

Advertising is aimed at gullible folks. Lots of Photoshop is used, some sleazy argumentation and of course playing with customers ego.
I ignore advertising. Common sense wins

Those Kay Jeweler commercials really annoy me. If I hear one more "Every kiss begins with Kay", if I will need to be commited.

While I still rant (to get others to think), I also "detoxed" yrs ago.

Don't even HAVE a tv (use laptop for news, movies on hulu, major station websites for a few tv shows).
No longer do I buy or even read women's magazines, house magazines etc.

I just like to point these issues out on occasion-

as some never realize how much they allow ads to affect them-
and their bank accounts...

Adsvertising is a sleazy business, IMO!

Advertisements- one of my pet hates.

Brainwashing more like.

They rarely bear any semblance to reality.

Bah Humbug.

In addition to the usual reasons to hate the ads for "male enhancement" pills, I hate how they try to pretend that the men are taking these products because they're "always thinking about their wives." Yes ladies, don't worry, he isn't taking them to attract some other woman... he's a helpless puppy who's "all about you." You have some quirky habit like twisting your hair--and while most people wouldn't find that interesting for more than a moment of two it has him staring at you adoringly 24/7, unable to do anything else but gaze at you with a endlessly smitten look on his face. Gag.
