We all learn something here or on our other forums.
Is there anything that has helped you in your daily life or interactions?
Or have you changed from forums?
Today I learned that heroin comes in stamp bags that is considered art. Who knew? Will it help me in my daily life? Doubtful to highly unlikely, but if I ever come across a stamp bag, I'll know what it is.
Last week I learned how to make 15 bean soup from dried beans here. My husband enjoyed it.
I learned that if a forum member complains repeatedly about a problem they have, and you offer what you think is helpful advice because you've had the same problem, the complainer might respond by attacking you in a nasty PM.
I've learned that you have to be very careful about the tone of a post and the words you use because some people take everything literally and don't understand satire or irony.
I've learned that no matter how bad I think my life is, someone else has it much worse.
I've learned that there are a lot of kind, warm-hearted, bright, witty and insightful people on this forum whom I may never meet in person, but my life is better for having "met" them online.
I learned that CD is just as addictive as many other forum or Social Media outlet and that if I don;t get a grip I won't have a life.
I've also learned that there are way more genuinely nice and thoughtful peeps on CD then flat our ignorant and rude peeps.
Sadly there is a whole lot of dysfunction in the world, lots of broken people, lots of heartache and as helpful as we all try to be often time the stuff people are posting about is a bit heavy and warrants professional attention.
Bullying and racism. I thought forums would be great way to learn about other cultures and ways and people. How they live and what they are thinking about this world. But I learn it is just a tool to world to tell why they don't like me. Internet sucks and forums sucks.
And then there is those few amazing friends I found! I learned from them about their cultures and ways and how they are viewing this world And why they like me I think internet and forums can be worst and best tool to meet people.
I learned not to be as trustworthy and forthcoming when it comes to meeting forum members. There have been a couple forum members who were not what they appeared to be. In those cases, their Internet personality was not the same as "the person" I met in real life. Luckily, I cut them off and they are history.
I also learned that there are lots of people in this world just like me, who enjoy the variety of life to the max!
Sadly, there are forum members who have no other place to go but the Internet, to unload their woes and miseries. So sad to see regular posters with on-going problems, and nothing good to report.
