I’m so old I remember hearing Wolfman Jack on the radio playing Buddy Holly records.

I remember when all you had was a special "typewriter eraser" that did no good at all. So you had better type it right! (Thank God for computers!)

My typewriter eraser was pink with a brush on the end...it worked great.

Taking a train into the city for a concert was like $4 bucks roundtrip.

We had to go to the city to get ON the train. Oh yeah, there was one village in the south end of the county (we lived in the north end) that had a train station. I remember going there with the high school band when Nixon was campaigning for President and his train made a "whistle stop" there. I guess the candidates now use a jet to make a "whistle stop campaign". There was something about a presidential candidate on a train, making stops at all the little towns along the way. No wonder we don't have any kind of decent passenger rail system in this country. The politicians don't use what we have.

There used to be a grand Victorian railroad station in my hometown that was torn down in 1965. In its place a new shopping center was built with a huge parking lot. I think Joni Mitchell took note of this.

It kept the clothes from drying out or turning musty/moldy before you got them ironed.

It was always a little confusing to me when my mom would hang the clothes out until it was dry and then bring it in and sprinkle water on it and roll it up until she could get it ironed. Why not take it off the line before it got completely dry?

I remember when it was 35 cents to ride the South Shore train from Gary, Indiana to Wrigley Field on the north side of Chicago. $2.00 for a seat in center field.[hence the term "cheap seats"] And if you didnt act like an idiot, as long as you were about 16 years old, you could get an ice cold beer for 25 cents!!! Of course that makes me old enough to remember when baseball was a TEAM game and not just a sport for individual egos!
