I'm not trying to convert anyone, just expressing my thoughts and beliefs.

No-one can claim Christ as their own "private property" or proclaim that their way of being in relationship with Christ is superior to anyone else's way.(well you can but its very silly.) You don't own the Way and if you want to use the bible, in whatever way, to guide your life, fine. But it's not the only Way of Christ.
And not only is the bible dangerously mis-used but you're reading a book that has lost soooooooo much in translation. If you read the bible in the original Aramaic you would not even recognize much of your "holy" book.
So go ahead and use that bible of yours in any way that you choose but don't impose your will on anyone else. I know that's probably asking too much .... sigh.
It's really difficult (impossible actually) to have an open and free conversation with someone who has been indoctrinated and who is enclosed in a tight box of dogma.
Totally agree!

I hope other people see that there is a problem here.
Go Mean Green!! Hey, Americans who watch, listen, buy the recommended books, and vote for Obama, because Oprah said so are nothing more then sheep of which we have an abundance of in this country. Pay no attention to the antics of an entertainer; she is just trying to put more billions in her pocket. Perhaps Congress should have a hearing on how come she made so much money last year right along with the oil companies.

In what way?
Do you understand that the translation of the bible that you're reading is not the original translation and that the original words are very, very, very different than what you are reading and accepting as "Gods word"? If you even began to contemplate that truth, your foundation would begin to crumble. That is not to say that you'd lose the love and light of Christ however. If you accept that Christ is the Life, the Truth and the Way do you actually think that would no longer be so if every single bible in the world was burned to ashes?
And yes, you have been indoctrinated. And you are working within a belief system that is just that .... a belief system.
There is life beyond belief
And, as i see it, it's o.k. that you're working within a belief system but if you have no objectivity that this is so and, on top of that, you insist that your belief system is superior to the belief system of someone else then you are in error, believe it or not.
And i doubt that you have interpreted that bible that you're reading by yourself. You have, i imagine (could be wrong) been told from a very young age how to interpret those teachings. And those teachings have been mistranslated and mistranslated and misinterpreted and passed on down through the years by very faulty and impure human beings that often had/have their own selfish agendas as their motivation and they have been very clever in misusing the bible to control and dominate and lead and mislead innocent people with relatively immature minds.
So as i see it, you're not only reading a bible that's not so accurate in terms of translation but you're depending on very faulty humans to tell you what those words (that aren't even ORIGINal) mean.
But whatever you're doing, if it's helping you to be more loving, tolerant, compassionate, understanding, charitable, non-judgmental, etc., etc. than that's a good thing. (Everyone needs love and acceptance and also, it keeps the social cogs running smoothly ... keeps people in line.)
But often this just isn't the case. Just the opposite. So many so-called Christians use (mis-use) the bible to justify and rationalize their fearful, hating, judgmental, intolerant and ignorant hearts and minds and even to the point of killing each other.
How is that following the teachings and example of Jesus who you hold so dear?
Would you please share the source for this information? I've seen several people on this board post this same thing and I have wondered where you get this from? If the Bible translation that we have today is not the original then who is it that changed it? Where do I find this original Bible translation that you speak of? I'm a Christian and if the Bible that I have studied all these years is not the original then I for one want to find out where the original one is so that I can start to study that one. Please don't keep this information to yourself.

It's pretty obvious how an entertainer generates money - it's right there in the job title. People pay to be entertained.

I'm not a big fan of Oprah, but if you fear that she has a secret agenda to make money by getting people to watch her show, buy the books that she recommends, etc. then you are correct - only it's not a secret - it's right there in front of you. I hope you don't think that Congress needs to get invloved with every media star that you personally dislike. They're all allowed to collect as much money as their fans throw at them.

I have been studying the New Earth book with Oprah and Eckhart and have found it to be very eye opening and insightful!

I'm also happy to see that she is studying the course of miracles. Good stuff.

Many Blessings to All!

I've watched Oprah a couple of times but it's definitely not for me. I see nothing dangerous or sinister about her, it's just that her shows seem to be alot of emptyheaded nonsense about pop culture, celebrities and what trendy thing happens to be making the rounds on the talk shows. Tom Cruise's jumping on the couch incident is a perfect example. I do get the feeling that she's generous with her wealth and wants to help people in various ways but Oprah's shows are in the same league as supermarket tabloids, monster truck shows and professional wrestling.

it was changed from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to many other languages. and many times y people who erased and edited and changed things for their own purposes.

Take care
i know that you believe that the only true god is the god of the bible and i will cease to beat you up with a little bit of objectivity.
It's o.k.
i appreciate any and all prayers that are in the spirit of loving kindness and compassion.
