Gingerbread houses are one of those things that seem like they will be so pretty and festive, but I have come to realize IT'S A TRAP. What a mess. I seek equivalent enjoyment from eating a square of regular gingerbread while looking at a Christmas tree or something.
Also, Dorthy, I have never heard of anybody wasting weed in such a manner. No pothead is going to make meatballs and then throw them somewhere--a pothead is going to eat them. Besides, that stuff is expensive. Seems like one of those candy-apples-spiked-with-razor-blades legends.
Ya, I can't see throwing away perfectly good pot. I mean, I can't see a pot head doing that I bought a pre-made gingerbread house and we decorated it ourselves. That's as good as it gets from me. They've eaten about half of it now.
Gingerbread Christmas trees here. One cookie on top of another. If I had to try and get the sides of a house to stay up it would be duct-taped and super-glued.
OK, I read an article about the sick dogs, and a few neighbors are reporting finding wrappers to pot brownies and such. A vet confirmed the dogs were poisoned, but not that they were poisoned by pot. It seems to me that you have some stoned hooligans who are messing with the dogs. I hope they catch them! Animal cruelty is despicable.
Yeah, I wonder why anyone would buy marijuana, make meatballs with it and then go around neighborhoods hucking them into people's yards to feed to dogs. The news reports that I've seen have all said medical marijuana and poison. Strange. My dogs would probably catch the meatballs in their mouths as they flew over the fence, knowing how they operate. I'd never be able to find anything like that beforehand. It's odd and kind of scary.

Great looking recipe!
I like this idea! I might try it. What shape cookies would work best?
I'm also confused as to why they'd jump to medical marijuana conclusions. There are at least a half dozen dispensaries in the area. I don't know why they would connect those wrappers to the dog poisionings. It seems like a pretty big leap unless they actually were able to test one of the meatballs or the dog.

I use various size cookie cutters and drinking glasses to cut the cookies out. I start with a bigger round cookie for the bottom. Let's see... how to describe the cookie cutter shape.... Like a daisy? I also use star shaped cookie cutters. Cookie-icing-cookie-icing. A candy Dot or whatever on top. When they were small we'd sit around a table and do it. All the cookie decorating stuf was in the middle. Various colored sugars and colored icings. Cinamon dots and those silvery "ball bearing" things. Sometimes you couldn't really tell it was a tree but that was the best part!

I just love this idea !!! I wonder if triangle (hand cut), spiraling up would work too?
