They are a waste of money if they don't get used.....other people may have different needs and use them. They certainly aren't required....but there is no need to be sanctimonious about those that may feel differently. (My friend has a late life baby a bit over a year ago...she liked her diaper genies....she had them in different areas of her house. (Yes, it was a large home.)
Personally, since it was never used, I thought a crib was the most useless baby item for us....but I don't mind that other people have them.

so who is being sanctimonious? I was simply passing on information. We get inquiries on this forum all the time about what we think is necessary or not.
Really? NK posted a link, not her opinion of the products. And yes, the Diaper Genie, and fancy bedding, baby shoes, etc, qualify as a waste of money, because they do nothing to enhance the quality of life for the child.
If you have money to spare, spend it as you wish. Personally, I'd rather see the money put into a college account.
I think most of the things on that list are unnecessary. I bought most baby things at consignment stores or used hand-me-downs (as long as they met safety standards). Baby items are used for such a short period of time, it's easy to find used items in great shape..
The only thing out of that list we have is the wipe warmer, and BULLPUCKY on it being a waste of money.
My kid would yelp when those wipes were cold. Right on his junkie. Poor guy.
