There needs to be a mix. There used to be a mix so that there was something for everyone, rich, poor, middle class, students, tourists, & commuters.

I don't know if it's still the case, but for years the biggest tourist attraction in the whole state of NC wasn't the Biltmore, Old Salem, the beaches, the state museums, the race track, it was Concord Mills, an outlet mall. There's a logical reason for trying to turn the white elephant that was the Gallery into an outlet mall.

There needs to be shopping for all of the residents in & near Center City. If the Amazon thing works out, upscale businesses will be falling over each other looking for places to set up shop. Right now there needs to be places for the masses. That includes families with kids.

The re-habbed Gallery is not going to be marketed as an outlet mall.

Again, I think you're being hard on Center City. Aside from a few vacancies along Walnut and Chestnut, Center City has fared pretty damn well in the current retail climate. Certainly faring better than most cities. A lot of stores have replaced closed stores that are brands that are seriously downsizing, getting rid of brick and mortar, or going out of business all together. Stores like Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Juicy Couture, Coach, Aerosoles, True Religion, etc... this isn't really in Philly's control. These brands are basically going extinct.

There are still some popular brands out there like Ted Baker, Tory Burch, White House Black Market, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc. etc. that would do VERY well in Philadelphia. We just need better Retail Brokers honestly. We need more creativity, more passion... not just brokers looking for the quick buck, and the easy tenants.
Is it possible for you to re-post that list you did of retail spaces on Walnut Street with updated vacancies and openings? I think it was you that posted that. That was really useful to me.

I'll walk both streets soon and do an update.

Zara debuts at Cherry Hill Mall on Sept. 28; King of Prussia store to follow

Zara opening in Cherry Hill this month, and flagship in KoP by the holidays! I am hoping for another CC location in the gallery.

The philly.com article loaded for some reason.

It loaded because you are within the free window again. Not sure when it rolls over...

Boyd’s is refreshing its marketing approach: Venerable Boyds gets refresh inside and out

For those who can’t access the link, the upshot is that Boyds is investing $10M in a bid to attract more women and millennials.

It's been trying to attract women for about 20 years. Hope they do better at it this time because most people think it's only for men.

When I was there last weekend a salesperson gave me the whole breakdown, very wise move on Boyds parts.
