Soooo...... a couple of weeks ago my wife and I received a letter from our "too big to fail" bank - it kinda looked like junk mail, but the subject was getting a "loan modification"... we weren't interested, so it got tossed into the "shred later" file since it had personal account info on it...

We tried to make the house payment yesterday and the online system wouldn't accept a payment... a few calls later - it seems they locked our online account because we applied for a "loan modification"...

only thing is... we didn't apply for a loan modification...

I gotta say - I sure am glad everything is "hunky-dory" with these big banks.

It's soooo much easier to deal with someone in a call-center in India than it is to drive to a local bank and talk to a banker in-person. /snark .

Anybody got a pitchfork & a bucket O' tar I can borrow?

If you are able to join a credit union then do it.

Now a days you're able to join almost any credit union unless they're for a specific company. The one I'm in here you only have to deposit $25.00 into a savings account and you're now a member. I pulled all my money out of the "Big Banks" years ago both personal and business and started using a small town bank (3 branches) for business and a credit union for personal. They charge no fees and their savings account rates are actually higher than what the big banks give you for their short term CD's.Here's a list of all Arizona CU's,you can also search by city or zip code.

Arizona Credit Unions (1 - 50 of 288 Credit Unions in Arizona)

Maybe you got the loan modification that I applied for about 37 months ago... and never heard a word until last month. Of course, the answer was "no". If you don't need it, I'll take it !!!
