This is typical of what I have seen here. NOT green. Yes, there is some green there in the cacti, as I am sure you point out. But that is not what green is. Sorry.

It's not green here at all.
Right, how could it look green here to you, you'd have to lie. We are sort of Olive green/yellowish and brown. lol The desert that is.

I would say, it depends on how starved for greenery you are. Very subjective.

More than this which is what the green country looks like much of the year:

You just live in the wrong part of the valley if you want to be surrounded by greenery. It DOES exist here.

This is about as good as it gets in the open desert. The cities and farms are greener because of irrigation.

I really don't think the original poster had no idea that Phoenix was in the desert. They had posted a question about window tinting and how cars respond to the extreme heat, so I believe that wasn't the issue.

And again, Ponderosa, a very good point about the green of the Midwest not being so green 6 months out of the year. This year in the Chicago area we are having a very green summer, but often times, by August our lawns are pretty brown.

Much of the year is an exaggeration. There is generally 5-6 months of green (end of March-ish to early September-sih) followed by the month or so of ugly oranges and reds and yellows as the leaves change (mid Sept-Oct), then the landscape changes to winter (Nov to mid March). So, it is winter the less than 50% of time. Unlike Phoenix where it is brown all year round! Unless you find a golf course or some astroturf

There is this of course:

So green it hurts my eyes.

But anyway, the question was when is the greenest time, not if it is as green as Tennessee. So why not comment on that instead of knocking it? Could it be that you haven't been here long enough to see what happens in a wet winter?

Because it is the truth. Anyone coming here looking for green isn't going to be happy with what they find.
