Deer Valley is constant traffic lights though.

No, it takes me about 10 minutes less if there is no accident on the freeway. And the drive is much more pleasant. Now, during the summer the traffic on the freeway wasn't as congested and I was able to make the drive in about 30 minutes. Now it is taking 45.

Considering the OP is in Tramonto and they want to head to the east part of town driving south parallel to the freeway for 15 minutes is not going to get them there any faster. It's either the i17 south or the 74 to Cave Creek road.

Not sure what you mean Wally. 101 between 17 and 51 is stop and go. The route I suggested is not as there is no congestion and very few traffic lights. I drove it today and took 17->101 because it was a Sat and there was no traffic. But on Monday I'll probably go my back road route and save some time.

I'm enjoying the discussion btw. I have no problem being wrong. But I don't think I am :-)
