Ridiculous amount.

I agree with Detroit...the guideline I heard when I was teaching youngsters was one ounce for every two pounds of bodyweight per day.....and that is without any strenuous exercise. Ask the rescue square about the idiots that take 500 ml of water to hike Camelback....best to be in the clear, if you know what I mean...without using words like potty and peepee.

Well.. late July is usually when we start getting the monsoon, so I can tell you that it will be hot, but whether or not it'll be humid, that I couldn't tell you, but if you're from Memphis, you'll see a lot less humidity during the hottest time of the day, and don't worry, the resort will have air-conditioning, and if you're renting a car, I'm sure it'll also have it. If you want to do some sight-seeing around Phoenix, do it before 2 PM or after dusk. Or, you can drive for about an hour to Prescott just northwest of Phoenix, or Flagstaff, about 120 miles to the northeast. It's high country and about 20 degrees cooler.

Everyone has a different level of tolerance to hot weather, I can handle up to 105 with no humidity, but that doesn't mean that I'll be outside in the sun around 2 PM doing physically-demanding work or hiking Squaw Peak..

It is literally too hot to swim here during the day unless you have constant shade.

Does that apply the same to the surrounding lakes around the Phoenix Region, just too uncomfortable to visit on a hot triple digit temp day?? Thinking about making the drive from Scottsdale to Lake Pleasant for a swim this time, hit the sand beaches and dive into that lake.

You can swim of course but it's still hot, if you've got enough time to drive head up to fossil creek, just grab a permit ahead of time. It's one of the nicest swimming spots I've ever seen in my life. There's a lot to explore in the Arizona high country and the temps are about 10-30 degrees cooler depending on where you go.
